A practical city base in the centre of Muscat: Sultan Qaboos Street, which links you to the airport and the business district, is close by, and Al Ghubra beach is about two kilometres away.
Park Inn by Radisson Muscat is 174 rooms in three categories: standard, superior and suite. Free Wi-Fi and tea- and coffee-making facilities throughout; some rooms add a city view, bathrobes and slippers. Nothing superfluous, everything to the point.
The trump card is the roof: a pool, a lounge terrace, and one of the restaurants here holds a Haute Grandeur 2019 award, including for the best scenic setting in Oman. Breakfast is an international menu; by day, burgers and fries they take seriously; in the evening, Middle Eastern, Indian and Asian cuisine.
The main impressions lie beyond the doorstep: the gardens and architecture of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the labyrinths of the Mutrah Souq, jazz evenings at the Royal Opera House.
An option for those who come to Oman to see the country rather than lie by the pool: a convenient starting point for travellers and business trips alike.
