An authentic, laid-back tropical atmosphere is what people come to Maayafushi for. A small island in Ari Atoll, 65 km from Male airport, it belongs to The NAKAI Group, which has been working in the Maldives for more than 20 years.
Accommodation comes both on the beach and over the water. All of it is well equipped, but if the goal is maximum seclusion and rest, we recommend the water villas — they look superb.
The pleasures are classic Maldivian: individual and couples' spa treatments, long hours in the sun, sports, and of course the water. The house reef is right off the island for snorkelling, and once you have explored it end to end, professional instructors will arrange a trip to any of the many dive sites nearby.
Families are comfortable here too: no age restrictions, and a kids' club.
A good choice for anyone tired of the city's pace who wants simple, genuine Maldives — no elaborate concepts, just a warm island atmosphere.
