Honest review
A resort genuinely lucky with its island: at Angaga on Ari Atoll everything is good at once — vegetation, beach, lagoon and reef, which means snorkelling and diving right off the shore.
At the same time the island belongs honestly to the Maldivian-classic genre: some interiors are not the freshest, and that is worth accepting in advance. The room placement, though, is well thought out, and each of the three categories has its own strengths — there are no bad spots on the island.
An important note on the water villas: a rebuild was announced for 2023 — 20 old water bungalows and the Sundown bar making way for 24 new, spacious premium bungalows with a new bar. Check the current status of this category when you book.
There is one restaurant on the island, but the kitchen surprises with its variety, and the menu changes every week — it does not wear thin over a holiday.
One small detail: a fuel surcharge of $6 per person each way is collected on arrival. Come for the nature and the reef: couples, and anyone who values the island more than the interior.
