True Maldivian quiet lives here, in Meemu Atoll: just two resorts in the entire atoll, and the lowest population density in the country.
Medhufushi occupies a miniature tropical island and doesn't try to be anything other than a place for calm, unhurried rest. The main spectacle is the stunning sunrises and sunsets, watched here as the event of the day.
Underwater, meanwhile, life is teeming. One honest caveat: the island's lagoon is very large, so reaching the house reef from the beach is difficult — boats run regularly to it and to the neighbouring reefs. Snorkelling here is a small expedition, not two steps from your villa.
On land you won't be bored: plenty of sport, plus excursions to nearby islands — inhabited and uninhabited.
Malé international airport is 130 km away. A resort for those looking for sparsely peopled, unhurried Maldives — and willing to go the distance for them.
