A tiny private island in the Ari Atoll that looks lifted straight from a picture-perfect postcard — and this is the rare case where the picture doesn't lie.
Everything sits within one small circle: an excellent beach, a clear turquoise lagoon, tropical greenery and a house reef genuinely worth your time. Small fish and reef sharks are visible right from the shore, and turtles and rays live on the reef. The architecture is simple but elegant, with a touch of European chic.
Kandolhu's main currency is seclusion and quiet. There are no loud parties and no packed activity schedule — a deliberate choice by the resort, not an oversight. If you need a buzz, look for another island.
That said, boredom is optional: a certified PADI dive centre runs trips to well-known sites nearby and teaches from scratch, there is a water sports centre, and the island regularly stages picnics, excursions, sunset cruises and wedding ceremonies.
Who it suits: honeymooners and anyone who wants to read a book by the water, eat well and see no one. The service and cuisine here are at the level this format is obliged to deliver.
