The hotel takes part in a coral-reef restoration and healing programme. In 2016, natural disasters killed up to 85% of the coral population. A two-stage gardening concept is used: new corals are grown in a mid-water nursery for 9-12 months, then planted back onto the reef. Corals chosen for restoration are those resistant to heat, so they will not die off again.
