A resort on a large island that is home to two hotels at once: ADAARAN SELECT MEEDHUPPARU 4* and ADAARAN PRESTIGE WATER VILLAS 5*.
The grounds are vast — the island covers 17.5 hectares — yet only 16% of it has been built on, to preserve the jungle atmosphere. The resort opened in 2000, and by now the cottages scattered across the island have all but merged with the surrounding greenery. Buggies shuttle around the resort. The villas have a simple but pleasing design: cream walls, parquet floors, turquoise accents and a cozy terrace. The bathroom has both an outdoor and an indoor shower. Each room comes with 2 sun loungers. The beach itself has very fine white sand underfoot. When entering the water you may come across corals, and in places the bottom drops away suddenly.
There is a house reef of its own: the corals grow well and there is plenty of fish (butterflyfish, reef sharks, rays, turtles). The dive center offers scuba courses and dive trips to the best sites of Raa Atoll.
The main restaurant has a wide choice of dishes, with tables assigned to each room. For those seeking a more romantic atmosphere, an a la carte dinner at the restaurant of the ADAARAN PRESTIGE WATER VILLAS hotel can be booked for an additional charge.
Shows and entertainment include music nights (mostly mellow music), a karaoke night, crab races, fresh lobster barbecues and seafood barbecues right on the beach.
The ADAARAN PRESTIGE WATER VILLAS section has just 20 luxury-level water villas. They are bright, with wooden floors and walls, a jacuzzi, comfortable loungers and a glass panel for watching the fish. This accommodation is for couples only — there is a strong current in the water villa area. The grounds in that part of the island are landscaped in tropical style and kept immaculate: pathways, ponds, flowers and even a green lawn. The beach on the water villa side is perfect: very fine sand and a gentle entry into the water with no corals.
