Honest review
Maldivian classic without the seaplane: Hilton Maldives Amingiri stands on Amingiri island in Male Atoll, an easy speedboat ride away. Being close to the capital keeps the resort at the centre of things, while all around are white sand and the turquoise water of the Indian Ocean.
There are 109 villas, each with its own pool and terrace — far from every resort in the Maldives can claim that. Inside: a separate dining area, big beds and a pillow menu, so that sleep in a new place comes deep.
The food runs from succulent seafood to barbecue and grill right on the beach, plus a rooftop lounge. A quiet find for parents is the adults-only bar: the children are at the club, and you get a calm evening.
The spa is a serious one: 8 treatment rooms, including couples' rooms; deep-tissue massage, hot stones, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy, reflexology. For the active — a dive centre and an art studio.
This is a resort for families and couples who want the Maldivian classic — without the long journey deep into the atolls.
