A choice for those coming to the Maldives to dive, not just to lie by the water. Vaavu Atoll is small and pleasantly under the radar: true connoisseurs love it for its rich underwater life, there are plenty of dive spots nearby, and the island itself has a beautiful house reef and white-sand beaches.
A practical plus: the resort is new and runs on an all-inclusive basis — the trip budget is predictable.
The rooms are easy to take in: 90 of them across five categories, furniture designed exclusively for this place, an intimate island.
And one final piece of advice: better not to plan this with toddlers. Formally there are no restrictions and there is a kids' club, but the island's rhythm — live bands in the evening, a DJ, themed parties and dinners — is pitched more at couples and families with older children.
