When you need the whole island — literally: JA Enchanted Island Resort in the Seychelles can be booked in its entirety, all 20,000 sq m and ten villas, for your party alone. For a wedding or a milestone birthday the format has almost no rivals.
Even in normal mode the seclusion is total: there are just ten villas, each with a private pool, an outdoor shower, direct access to the sandy beach and a personal butler. The views are of the Indian Ocean and the rocks; all around lies the Sainte Anne Marine Park.
One piece of advice: allow time for walks along the shore — giant tortoises, rays, crabs and sea urchins turn up at the water's edge, and this small ritual quickly becomes the highlight of the day. Dinner is fresh Creole cooking in the resort's restaurant; free hours go to the spa and active pursuits on water and land.
The logistics are simpler than they look: 10 minutes by car from the airport on Mahe to the pier, then 15 minutes by boat.
Who it suits: honeymooners, families after complete privacy, and groups marking a big occasion.
