If your main criterion is sea that is a pleasure to swim in, L'Archipel scores straight away: the resort stands on its own cove at the end of Côte d'Or bay, and coral reefs shelter it from the waves. This is the north-east of Praslin — the second-largest island of the Seychelles.
Advice at the booking stage is almost unnecessary: every room here looks onto the ocean, so it is hard to go wrong with the category.
Build the day by mood: a dive centre and lively water sports for the energetic, walks for the contemplative, a spa with professional masseurs for lazy days; massage can also be ordered to your room.
The food is a strong point: breakfasts and lunches in the open air by the beach with a popular seafood menu, and in the evening La Feuille d'or in the main building with a rich gastronomic repertoire.
Logistics: 12 km to Praslin airport; from Mahé it is about an hour by ferry or some 20 minutes by plane. Come for a calm family holiday or an unhurried honeymoon.
