If you are flying to Mauritius as a couple and want quiet, make a note: Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette is an adults-only resort, 18+, with no children.
The main practical question here is the season. The resort stands on the east coast, and from May to October it is fairly windy; count on calm weather the rest of the year. Waves in the ocean are routine, so reef shoes are not a whim but a necessity.
In return — a beautiful white-sand beach and a living coral reef: colourful fish, and two species of sea turtle on the shore. Snorkelling gear is free of charge; diving lessons and boat outings cost extra.
For an excursion day there are places to go: Chamarel, the "land of seven colours", and Tamarin Bay — a surfers' paradise where dolphins are often met.
The green grounds, a panoramic gym looking onto the ocean and discreet staff do their work: people come here not for scale but for peace as a couple.
