Honest review
The case where you should first answer honestly why you are going to Bali. If it is the sea you are after, this is not your address: the resort stands inland, on high ground by the sacred Wos river, among the jungle and rice fields of Keliki village near Ubud.
But if you are coming for Bali itself, take it without hesitation. The format is unique: a tented camp of 23 tents, each hidden among tropical trees and reached by its own suspension bridge. The project is the work of American architect and designer Bill Bensley, inspired by the adventurous stories of the first settlers of the 1800s.
Do not expect camping conditions: inside are antique furniture, rare period pieces and modern comforts; every tent has its own name and its own design.
The credentials are serious: opened in 2018, and ranked 3rd among Asia's best and 7th in the world in the World's Best Awards 2022.
The advice is simple: give Ubud and its surroundings several days, and do not try to combine this place with a beach rhythm. For couples and connoisseurs of design — one of the strongest impressions the island can give.
