Honest review
Ubud as you imagine it: the resort stands on high ground surrounded by rainforest, with the Ayung — a mountain river sacred to the Balinese, the one used for regular rafting runs — flowing below.
The atmosphere is the main product here: greenery, altitude, the Balinese calm this historic town is known for. The rooms are spacious and Balinese in style — carved details on walls and furniture, Egyptian cotton bedlinen, marble in the bathrooms. For full seclusion, take a villa with a private pool.
Breakfast is served in a panoramic open-air restaurant, with excellent local dishes.
The grounds are large, but shuttles run across them: even from the furthest villa the restaurant is an easy ride. The centre of Ubud is 10 minutes away with a free transfer from the resort; the famous Monkey Forest is also about 10 minutes' drive.
A resort for a slow holiday: forest, river, quiet — with the town, its palace and its market fifteen minutes away.
