Urban Muscat without pomp: Majan Continental is about cosiness, a homely atmosphere and sensible comfort near the capital's key places, including the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.
There are only two room categories, both done in calm light-beige tones; each has satellite TV, air conditioning, free high-speed Wi-Fi and a bathroom with a freestanding tub.
An unexpectedly strong side is wellness: a spa with massage and sauna, yoga, meditation and even nutrition consultations, plus a roomy gym with the newest machines and qualified trainers. For sport in the open air — two tennis courts and an outdoor pool of unusual shape.
In the evening — a restaurant of Omani and international cooking, wine from its own cellar, oriental dancing and live music.
The address is practical: the Al Ghubra South district, 2 km to the centre of Muscat and 12.6 km to the airport.
A good option for a first acquaintance with Oman: a couple of nights in the capital before the beach or a tour of the country.
