Before booking Ayana, get the structure clear — it will save you time: the complex has three parts (Ayana, the Ayana villas and Rimba) with shared grounds and a shuttle between them. Stay in one part and you use all three freely, but the accommodation differs in character, from classic rooms to villas.
The complex stands on top of a sandy cliff above the ocean. There are 12 pools: a two-level one for panoramic photographs, an infinity pool, a children's pool with a slide — and the main reason to come here, the Aquatonic, considered one of the best pools in the world. Heated salt water from the Indian Ocean, a jacuzzi effect, views of the rainforest: give it its own slot in the day — it is an experience in itself, not just another pool.
Food will not be a problem: 19 restaurants and bars, including the panoramic bar on the cliff.
A sensible choice for families and couples who want infrastructure: you could spend a week without leaving the grounds.
