Honest review
Crescent Unawatuna is a combination of price, quality, location, service, hospitality and nature. The sandy beach is only a few minutes' walk from the hotel; a supermarket, small shops and local restaurants are close at hand, and the main sights can be reached on foot while strolling and exploring the neighborhood.
The grounds include a children's playground, and cycling is popular in the area. You can even rent a car — the staff will help if needed. The wonderful staff, who even speak Russian, are one of the hotel's signature touches: in one person you will find a friend, an adviser, a butler, a guide and even a handyman, who will sacrifice his own sleep to see you off and welcome you back from late-night excursions, opening the gates to the hotel grounds.
The pool is the second attraction — it really is enchanting. And importantly, both adults and children can swim in it.
All rooms are done in the colonial style so popular in Sri Lanka, which means plenty of wooden furniture, stone and white textiles, beautifully paired with modern conveniences. The rooms are quiet despite the hotel's busy location, and free of excess humidity.
The hotel is in the town of Unawatuna, 1.3 km from Rumassala South Beach and roughly 120 km from Colombo; 152 km from Bandaranaike International Airport.
