A miniature heart-shaped island — you can walk all of it very quickly, and that intimacy is the resort's whole character: a calm, unhurried boutique format close to Male.
In the evening the island switches into romantic mode: candles are lit on the tables along the beach, quiet music plays, and for special occasions there are several snug spots for private dinners.
The kitchen is a strong suit: despite the island's size, three restaurants are at work, so over a holiday you will manage to try everything. There are several good stretches of beach, but all are fairly narrow because of the island's small size — fair warning. The compensation is a large panoramic pool ringed by soft loungers.
Snorkelling comes with a caveat: in places the current around the island is quite strong. The fix is well drilled — twice a day the PADI-certified dive centre runs trips to the neighbouring reef, just 10 minutes away by boat.
A watersports centre, a spa, masterclasses and excursions round out the picture. A resort for couples who want quiet, candlelight and a short journey from Male.
