Honest review
Let's be honest: Reveries Diving Village is a guest house on a local island, not a classic resort island. That is exactly why it is interesting: an affordable budget by Maldivian standards with a full set — a private beach, a spa, a pool, several restaurants and its own diving and water-sports centre.
Come first of all for the waves and the dives. Laamu is an atoll with world-class surf spots: thanks to its position between the northern and southern atolls it gets the longest swell periods and big, consistent waves along tropical beaches.
Plan the logistics in advance: a 35-minute domestic flight from Velana International Airport plus 10 minutes by car from the domestic airport at Kadhdhoo. The flight, incidentally, is scenic — count it as your first excursion.
A note for the record: this is where the crew of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story — the biggest Hollywood production ever filmed in the Maldives — was housed and handled.
Who it suits: surfers, divers and independent travellers who find a local island more interesting than a closed-off resort.
