If you're looking for the Maldives 'away from everyone', Laamu is exactly that atoll: Six Senses is the only resort here, 240 km south of Malé airport.
The practical notes first. Most villas stand over the water — beautiful, but families with toddlers should weigh this separately: the resort itself honestly admits it is not always safe for younger guests. The beach, meanwhile, is wide, the lagoon clean, the island covered in green.
The resort opens up fully for couples. A whole honeymoon package is assembled: a ceremony, a wedding cake, Boduberu music, a romantic dinner with champagne, a cruise and a couples' spa treatment.
A separate reason to choose Laamu is the sea. The Maldives Underwater Initiative centre with its team of experienced marine biologists, a coral-growing programme you can join yourself — snorkelling here is not a formality but part of the concept.
The verdict: eco-chic, seclusion and a living ocean — above all for a romantic scenario.
