Small, quiet and one of the most authentic resorts in the Maldives — and one of the most affordable too. Traditional Maldivian classic with beautiful views.
The island is known as the "bird island": budgerigars are bred here, and many other tropical birds live on and around it. Be ready for ringing birdsong overhead — part of the charm for some, a reason to pack earplugs for others.
The villas are not about modern design but about cosiness: traditional style, natural materials in the décor. The bathrooms, meanwhile, are fitted with good equipment — a pleasing balance at this price level.
The food long ago earned its reputation as a buffet of the highest class: the chefs know their trade, so varied, high-quality dining is guaranteed.
There are entertainment programmes in the evenings, but they finish early — the island falls quiet fast. By day — sunbathing, snorkelling and diving, with enough vivid, interesting dive sites around the island.
A resort for those after the real, unvarnished Maldives at a sensible price.
