Honest review
The former Raffles Maldives, and the inheritance shows: some of the largest villas in the Maldives, and a grown-up holiday thought through to the last detail.
It helps to understand the layout: the resort occupies two islands. Beach villas, residences, the spa and the dive centre are on the main one; the water villas, with a restaurant and bar, are on the second, 800 metres to the south — and the only way between them is by boat. In choosing a category you are also choosing an island: they are different scripts for the day.
The design is laconic and contemporary: island ease plus colonial restraint. The dive centre hosts sessions with a marine biologist — a rare option for a holiday with substance, not just beach.
Advice: don't bring children — they are admitted, but there is practically nothing for them here; the resort is made for adults.
Logistics: Gaafu Alifu atoll, 400 km from Malé — expect a long transfer.
For couples and connoisseurs of big villas, willing to go to the far south of the Maldives for genuine seclusion.
