Honest review
is set on a small private island surrounded by a crystal-clear lagoon in the northeastern part of South Male Atoll, and is one of the most popular luxury hotels among travelers.
The island lies at the center of a vast turquoise lagoon and is so narrow that as you stroll its paths you can see the water on both sides. Yet the resort and all its facilities are woven so organically into the island's natural setting that it is impossible to imagine anything here being otherwise.
At the island's southern tip are one of the restaurants and a luxurious panoramic pool; the beach villas and reception face west, where the famous Maldivian sunsets blaze with color, while the water villas stretch along the eastern side. On the island you will also find a magnificent library holding a large collection of fine and absorbing books.
All the villas on the island are very modern and, at the same time, authentic. Natural materials and ethnic furnishings dominate the design. The breathtaking presidential suite has won numerous international awards and is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Each villa is attended by a butler who acts as the guests' personal assistant.
There are no complaints about the food on the island either — it is delicious and varied, themed evenings are held regularly, and a professional sommelier leads tastings of wines from around the world. For an extra charge the hotel also offers romantic dinners in unusual tropical settings — in a treetop, for example, or on an uninhabited island.
Perhaps the island's one drawback might be the absence of a house reef, but even that is smoothed over by the wealth of other offerings. Guests can take diving trips and a host of excursions, including a visit to Male, cruises and fishing, as well as seaplane flights, yoga classes, water sports and more.
