The untouched south of the Maldives in its purest form. Park Hyatt Hadahaa stands on a green island in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, far from the busy northern atolls, and was built in maximum harmony with nature — here the architecture defers to the island, not the other way round.
The trump card is the house reef, one of the best in the Maldives: snorkelling starts right off the beach. Around the island are several excellent dive sites: sea turtles, reef sharks, bright tropical fish.
A curious detail: the equator is only 55 kilometres away, and an excursion lets you cross it officially — certificate included.
Guests most often single out the beauty of the island itself, the closeness of the underwater world, the intimate atmosphere, the food and the service — a combination Park Hyatt rarely gets wrong.
The one thing to be ready for is the logistics: the island lies 405 kilometres from Male airport, and the journey here is part of the trip. A resort for couples and divers who want silence and a reef, not neighbours on the horizon.
