One of the most conveniently located resorts in the Maldives: 10 minutes by boat from the airport — and you are there, with no seaplanes and no connections.
When choosing it, weigh the location honestly: the capital is close, so neighbouring islands, including Male, are visible from the shore, and seaplanes pass regularly overhead. Even so, the resort stays in high demand most of the time — and not by accident.
This is the first resort in the history of the Maldives: it opened in 1972 on a former coconut plantation, and the island's name translates simply as 'coconut'.
The food and the evenings are well above what you would expect from an 'island by the airport': wine tastings, jazz at sunset, and the Thila restaurant, ranked among the best in the country.
A practical detail for families: the island has paved paths — convenient with a pram and, should you wish, in heels. A good pick for a short holiday or for the first and last nights of a longer itinerary.
