Honest review
If this is your first Maldives — especially with children — Meeru deserves a place at the top of the shortlist. The reason is prosaic: a short boat ride after a long international flight won't wear out small travellers, and it saves a decent share of the budget.
Families have had somewhere to settle since the 2020 renovation: a two-bedroom villa for 2 adults and 3 children appeared. And the main restaurants are divided by guest age — families with children dine separately, so couples are at ease here too: considered neighbourliness instead of compromise.
The beach is the main asset: the line runs unbroken around the whole island, the sand is soft, free of coral chips and shell grit, the entry into the water is gentle and there are no breakwaters. There is no rich reef at the island — let's say that honestly up front; it is the place's main trade-off.
Daily life is easy: the resort's own app lets you book any service on the island from your phone; natural shade from the many trees replaces umbrellas; on arrival there is an air-conditioned Crown & Champa lounge while you wait for the transfer.
Logistics: North Malé Atoll, 36 km from Velana airport. A resort with a high rate of repeat visits — and that is the best measure of quality there is.
