The kind of place where North Malé Atoll shows its best side: the clearest turquoise water, a good house reef and world-class dive sites next door. Grand Park Kodhipparu is a resort where the underwater world is not a backdrop but the main event of the day.
The island runs a well-equipped, PADI-certified dive centre — with programmes for beginners and experienced divers alike, and even diving for children. Rays, reef sharks, turtles — all of it can be seen here with your own eyes.
Life above the water is sorted too: a water-sports centre with kitesurfing, windsurfing, waterskiing and kayaking, plus group yoga and masterclasses every morning. The kids' club is excellent, and there is no age restriction on the island.
A separate word on the food: the breakfasts are strong, the menu is varied and updated regularly, and there are several meal plans — you can match one to your style of holiday. The spa picked up three awards in different categories in 2019.
Who it suits: couples and families with children who want an island with plenty to do both underwater and on land.
