If you are choosing Maldivian luxury with short logistics, start with Kuda Huraa: the resort stands on North Male Atoll and can be reached by speedboat in just half an hour — after a long flight, and with children, that is a serious argument.
The second argument is age in the best sense: the place has been loved for a long time, and the full reconstruction of 2006, plus the renovation and new villas of 2019, keep it from dating. The villas are traditional Maldivian in style — an "island village" — with modern technology inside.
Families and active guests should look closely: a children's programme, diving, snorkelling and, above all, a professional surf centre with Australian instructors and world-class breaks nearby. They will get anyone from age 6 up on a board — a rare chance for a child's first time.
Plan an evening at the spa on the neighbouring island: guests travel there by traditional Maldivian boat, the treatment rooms stand over the water, and you can watch the underwater world through a glass panel; there are treatments for children, and the centre works even at night.
