Coco Bodu Hithi is a modern, romantic resort that is certain to impress couples in love.
The resort sits on a beautiful, large island rich not only in palms but in a wide variety of carefully tended trees, shrubs and flowers. Incidentally, anyone can take part in greening the island and leave their mark on its history: some trees bear commemorative plaques with the names of guests who planted them during their stay.
Strolling the lovely sandy paths through the island vegetation is a pleasure in itself, but should you need to get from one part of the island to another quickly, electric buggies circulate continuously and will take you anywhere on the island.
The villas look very Maldivian — traditional thatched roofs and dark timber. All of them have private pools and everything needed for a comfortable stay, including a plate of exotic fruit and a bottle of sparkling wine on arrival.
The island offers a wide choice of restaurants and bars, along with the option of a private dinner in your villa or on the beach, and weekly barbecue parties. Nights here are fairly quiet, though: there are occasional live band performances and open-air film screenings, but most guests prefer evening walks and early nights.
The island has an excellent certified diving center, where professional instructors are always ready to help or arrange a trip to one of the many dive spots nearby — the famous Rasfari Island marine reserve, for instance, is just a few minutes to the south.
