Biyadhoo Island Resort

Honest review

– a resort located on the south-eastern edge of South Male Atoll. The island on which the resort stands is famed for its magnificent tropical vegetation and superb house reef.

Nature here is beyond reproach — the island is surrounded by a crystal-clear lagoon and a soft beach. As for daytime entertainment on the island, it is, without question, snorkelling. The snorkelling around the island is extraordinarily varied: there are 7 different entry points and countless chances to see the inhabitants of the underwater world — not only fish, but also reef sharks, rays, turtles, squid and lobsters. There are also several interesting dive spots around the island, including Manta Point and Kandooma Thila, the latter better suited to experienced divers because of the strong current. Guests can also join fascinating excursions, including a trip to the Maldivian capital, Male, which is very close by.

In the evening, the Coconut Bar becomes the centre of island life, with regular performances by live bands and DJs. All the rooms on the island are standard — not overly luxurious, but comfortable and equipped with everything you need. Their simple design gives the island a relaxed, easy-going atmosphere. As guests themselves note, the western side of the island is better for those who want to enjoy the beach and go snorkelling, though it can get noisy there in the evening because of the music in the main bar. The resort welcomes guests of all ages, but note that there is no kids' club or entertainment for younger guests.

The hotel belongs to South Male Atoll and is 30 km from the international airport in Male.

Two-storey beach bungalows are set around the whole perimeter of the island; the rooms are arranged in blocks of 16 — 8 rooms on the 1st floor and 8 on the 2nd.

– the island's main buffet-style restaurant, serving breakfast (07:30-09:30), lunch (12:30-14:00) and dinner (19:30-21:30).
