Baros is one of the country's first resorts — its doors first opened back in the 1970s. It has been renovated several times since, but its natural beauty continues to flourish thanks to the hotel's involvement in numerous environmental conservation programmes, while the level of service only keeps rising, as guests' enthusiastic reviews confirm.
The island's welcoming atmosphere is sustained by spacious villas styled after traditional Maldivian huts with thatched roofs.
The hotel lies in the very heart of North Malé Atoll, and the journey from the international airport takes just half an hour — undoubtedly another of its advantages. Despite its proximity to the capital, no aircraft fly over the island, and the ecology here is superb: a living, vivid reef teeming with inhabitants, a clean turquoise lagoon, fragrant flowers and the bright greenery of palms and other tropical plants.
The island welcomes guests with children over 8, though note that the hotel is nonetheless oriented mainly towards adult guests and relaxed, romantic holidays. There is no entertainment for children or teenagers on the island.
