Honest review
A living legend of the Maldives: Baros has been taking guests since the 1970s — one of the country's first resorts. It has been rebuilt several times since, but the essence is unchanged: an intimate, romantic island with a crystal-clear lagoon that steadily collects prestigious international awards and rapturous reviews.
Nature is the main asset: a living, vivid reef full of creatures, a turquoise lagoon, fragrant flowers and palms. The resort has taken part in environmental conservation programmes for years, and it shows.
The villas are styled after traditional Maldivian huts with thatched roofs — spacious and cosy.
The logistics are unusually lucky: half an hour from the international airport, the very heart of North Malé — and yet no planes fly over the island, so nothing disturbs the quiet.
Worth knowing: children are accepted from age 8, but the island is orientated towards adults — there is no children's entertainment here. This is a place for couples: calm, beach walks, gastronomy and spa treatments for two.
