Choose One & Only The Palm when what you need from Dubai is quiet and water, not shop windows. The position on the crescent of Palm Jumeirah cuts off the city noise physically: around you, only the Gulf, the beach and the gardens.
The scheme is simple: you live in a room, suite or beach villa amid Andalusian-Moorish architecture and landscaped pools, and head into the city when the mood takes you — by yacht, from the resort's own jetty. The metropolis is close, but it doesn't feel as if you are in it.
Two fixtures for your programme. First, the restaurants: the resort's entire kitchen is led by Yannick, a Michelin-starred chef, so plan at least one dinner in advance. Second, the Guerlain spa, the only one in the Emirates: centuries of skincare tradition plus modern technique.
The numbers: 40 km to DXB, 50 km to DWC. The format is for couples and for anyone who has already seen big Dubai and now wants its quiet side.
