A sensible choice if you want the whole of Dubai, not just its beach: Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Beach stands on The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence, in Dubai Marina, and everything that matters — the shops, restaurants and entertainment — starts right outside the door.
Practical tip number one: book an executive room. It unlocks the lounge on the 9th floor — complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea, evening drinks and canapés — which means a fair share of your restaurant budget stays in your pocket.
Not that you would go hungry without the lounge: 12 award-winning restaurants and bars, from the Italian Vero and the tiki bar Trader Vic's to McGettigan's and the beachside Wavebreaker. For the evening, a cocktail on the terrace of the Sky bar.
The day takes shape easily: a private beach and pool, water sports such as parasailing and jet-ski hire, a spa with massages and wraps, a gym. The logistics are straightforward: 33 km to the international airport, about 35 minutes.
Come here for an energetic city break by the water; if you are after peace and seclusion, look elsewhere.
