Honest review
If the task is beach Dubai with no compromise on infrastructure, Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah handles it with confidence. Beachfront on Palm West Beach: a kilometre of fine white sand, a gradual entry into the sea, clear water — with small children this matters more than any interior.
A tip on rooms: families should look at categories with a separate living area, and for longer stays at options with a kitchen and a walk-in wardrobe; some rooms even come with a jacuzzi. Balconies with views are almost everywhere.
The children's programme is ready-made: a shaded kids' pool, a spacious playground, a kids' club, and the Aquaventure waterpark 10 minutes away on foot. Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall are about 20 minutes away, the centre of Dubai 16 km: the city is near, but not under your windows.
No need to drive anywhere in the evening: American barbecue at CLAW, live bands and DJs at Factory, the clubby Barfly open late. To unwind, there is the Eforea spa, where the programme is tailored to you.
Who it suits: families first of all, though anyone coming for the views of the Marina and the Palm will find plenty to rest their eyes on.
