Choosing between the two Atlantis resorts, keep one simple formula in mind: The Royal is about the rooms and the views, with full access to its neighbour's entertainment.
In practice that means living among Italian marble, walk-in wardrobes and smart glass that turns the bathroom opaque at the touch of a button — then heading out by day to the Aquaventure waterpark, the dolphins of Dolphin Bay, The Lost Chambers aquarium or the sea lions at Sea Lion Point.
Advice on categories: the club-level rooms in the Sunlight Tower start from the 14th floor, look out over both the sea and the palms, and — the main thing — carry daily privileged access to the Royal Club lounge. For special occasions there are penthouses all the way up to the Royal Mansion.
The romantic scenario is thought through as well: a suite with a private terrace, gold accents in a calm sea-green palette, Italian marble and views of Palm Jumeirah with Dubai's skyline.
