A practical choice for getting to know Abu Dhabi: Andaz Capital Gate stands in the very heart of the city, five minutes from the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, ten from Hudayriat beach and twenty from Yas Island.
One piece of advice: don't rush to hire a car — a free shuttle runs to most of the sights, and it makes the first days noticeably easier.
The tower itself is a Guinness record holder: the building with the greatest lean in the world. There are 188 rooms, 21 of them suites, all with panoramic windows — ask for the side that fits your script: the bay at sunset or the city lights.
The house signature is a daily cup of local coffee in the Andaz lounge, an old Emirati welcome in true Bedouin style, plus a collection of 220 works of art across the property.
This is an option for an active city trip: excursions, architecture, Yas and its entertainment. For a classic beach holiday, head for the coast — this is a base for impressions, not a lagoon.
