Honest review
A large beach resort where the main asset is handed to everyone without exception: each of the 179 rooms and suites has a panoramic ocean view from its own balcony or patio. Arguing with the sunset here is pointless.
The dining is spread by mood: the main restaurant, looking over ocean and garden, serves Western and Eastern menus; a snug coffee shop by the pool does light dishes; delicacies are at the Supper Club; and the evening naturally ends at the lounge bar by the waterfall with its themed entertainment.
A particular pride is the Ayurvedic spa, called one of the most beautiful in Sri Lanka. A gym and the resort's own shopping arcade for gifts and souvenirs complete it.
The rooms hold no surprises, in the good sense: a shower, air conditioning and fans, cable TV, a mini fridge, a tea and coffee kit. For those who need more space there is a two-room suite with a living room, a jacuzzi bath and a spacious balcony over the ocean.
One caveat: Colombo international airport is 80 km away and the transfer takes about 2.5 hours. Plan the journey in advance — and take this resort for a slow family holiday by the water.
