Honest review
A very homely story on the edge of Unawatuna bay: just 10 rooms, no crowds, noise or bustle — a small resort where everyone feels like a regular.
The trump card is the setting. The building stands on a rise, so the rooms and the restaurant look out over the whole bay, and the sunsets here are especially scenic: the sun literally sinks into the ocean. Right below is a snug sandy beach left almost entirely to the people staying here.
Do not expect total silence, though: the surf breaks against the rocks, and that sound is part of the local atmosphere. The Unawatuna discos, on the other hand, reach you only as faint echoes and do not intrude at all.
The infrastructure is minimal: a beach with a coral reef and a restaurant which, incidentally, is popular along the whole coast. For entertainment, stalls and local craftsmen's handiwork, go on foot or take a tuk-tuk.
This is a resort in the 'sleep, eat, wash' category — and it carries out that mission with dignity. Choose it for the view, the homely atmosphere and a beach without strangers.
