Choose this resort for the experiences, not the beach: Kosgoda's main magnet is its world-famous sea-turtle rescue project, and you can meet the turtles during your stay.
The minus first, so there are no surprises: the resort has no beach of its own. Fifty metres away is a public one, of coarse and fine pebbles — but the sea is crystal clear. If sand under your lounger is critical, discuss the alternatives with us.
Everything else counts in its favour: the resort opened in 2020, the infrastructure is fresh, and the space is managed exemplarily. In the evening go up to the rooftop bar — signature cocktails under some of the brightest sunsets; for dinner, Mediterranean dishes built on the chefs' own recipes.
The days fill easily: boat trips along scenic rivers, safari and encounters with Sri Lankan culture, sport and the gym. For recovery there is Shine Spa: not just massage but signature wellness treatments too.
The transfer from Colombo's international airport takes about 2 hours — 117 km.
We recommend it to families with children (turtles!) and to couples ready to trade a beach of their own for character and experiences.
