Honest review
A rare geography: the ocean on one side, the Bentota river with its mangroves on the other. Pullman Bentota stands exactly between them, and that is its main trump card — many rooms look out on both the blue of the ocean and the green riverbanks at once.
The rooms are kept in calm, warm tones — the tropical greenery only looks brighter against them. The beach and all the facilities are easy to reach from anywhere on the grounds.
Being bored is not the custom here: snorkelling, windsurfing, canoeing, water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, even sailing lessons. On land — volleyball, badminton, table tennis, aerobics. The river is a chapter of its own: safaris, fishing and unhurried boat trips, particularly good as a couple.
The level is a confident four stars (formerly NH Bentota Ceysands), with no pretence at luxury — but with real Sri Lankan nature all around.
A resort for families and active couples who find Sri Lanka more interesting in motion than from a sunlounger.
