The right base for an active acquaintance with Sri Lanka: from Induruwa you can easily reach the sea-turtle hatchery, whale watching, the Dutch fort in Galle and the temples of Kande Viharaya and Sri Kalyanarama Maha Viharaya. For crafts, head to Ambalangoda: a batik factory and the Ariyapala mask museum.
Between excursions — classic beach mode: an untouched shore, velvet sand, the Indian Ocean the full width of the horizon and rooms with water views, fitted out with up-to-date equipment.
