Choose Hikka Tranz by Cinnamon if you want Sri Lanka alive rather than hushed: Hikkaduwa is a place of tropical charm and party energy, and the resort stands right on its scenic coastline.
First tip — go down to the beach often: big sea turtles swim right up to the shore several times a day. Second — bring a mask: the Paradise Isle underwater grove with its lavish coral reef is close by, and for serious diving there is a PADI dive centre on site.
The evening plan writes itself: bars, restaurants and souvenir shops along the central Galle Road.
On the quieter side: a rooftop spa with a panoramic ocean view, an outdoor pool, a well-equipped gym. For adventures further out, the excursion desk arranges day trips; Bentota and Ambalangoda are 20 minutes away by car.
Who it suits: families and younger crowds. Anyone after total seclusion should look at quieter bays — Hikkaduwa is made for motion.
