Gloria Grand Hotel stands on the main path to the beach: the sea is close, cafés and souvenir shops are at the doorstep, and the railway station is 1.4 km away. For views and an easy outing — the temple complex on Rumassala hill, 3 km away.
There are just over twenty rooms — and that is a plus: the service here is genuinely first-class, with enough attention for everyone. The rooms are spacious, modern and furnished with taste; the suite comes with designer furniture.
Two practical points. First: the superior rooms come without balconies. Second: the international airport is 157 km away — plan the transfer with time to spare.
A sensible choice for a couple or an independent traveller in southern Sri Lanka: a base for the beach and outings around the area, not a resort to hide away in.
