Honest review
Built on a peninsula often called a slice of paradise, Club Bentota stands on the west coast of southern Sri Lanka, embraced by the Indian Ocean and the Bentota River.
The hotel itself lies at its heart — in the middle of Bentota's wide beach with its lush greenery. The journey begins right from the airport, as the drive to the hotel includes a river crossing through the region's picturesque tropical scenery.
The hotel occupies a spit dividing the waters of the Indian Ocean from the Bentota Ganga river, so the most striking experience is a water safari, where you can see the extraordinary flora and fauna of these parts. You can go surfing, waterskiing, or ride a catamaran, canoe or jet ski. A sports club and a dive centre are nearby, and the staff will gladly arrange a transfer for you.
Beach lovers can simply sunbathe on the 3-kilometre Paradise Beach, with its remarkably fine golden sand, and swim in the clean waters of the Indian Ocean. Treat your body to a full massage or a herbal bath infused with lavender, jasmine, rosemary and mint at the spa.
In the restaurants, let the chefs spoil you with delectable dishes made to their own signature recipes. Attention is paid to every detail here: if you are vegetarian, a wide choice of vegetarian dishes will be waiting on the menu. There is even a children's menu for the smallest and most discerning guests.
The hotel is on a peninsula set between the Indian Ocean and the Bentota River, 63 km south of Colombo and 99 km from the international airport. The town of Bentota lies at the southern end of the Galle district and is famous for its sandy beaches and opportunities for water sports.
