Honest review
The case where the room category decides everything. If you are coming to Bentota for atmosphere, take one of the 16 suites Geoffrey Bawa created out of 30 original rooms: each has its own name, its own character and artworks painted specifically for the room's theme — one main piece in the living room and several more in the bathrooms and dressing rooms.
The resort itself is among the best in this part of Sri Lanka and a recognised design boutique: a main three-level building with two wings in the style of a Dutch fort, white sand, azure sea.
One detail speaks for the service: you can choose the firmness of your pillows for a comfortable night — and attention on that level is the norm here, not the exception.
Who we recommend it to: honeymooners and couples first of all; families with children can come with confidence too. A honeymoon in a suite conceived by Bawa is a story in itself.
