Honest review
If you are choosing Mauritius for an active family holiday and don't want to pay extra at every step, look closely at Long Beach: water sports and the glass-bottom boat are free here even on a breakfast-only plan.
The beach is 1.3 kilometres of white sand, and this is one of the island's best spots for diving and snorkelling. Plan at least a couple of outings to sea.
Children are catered for by age: a club for ages 2–11 and 11–17, pizza nights, beach barbecues, excursions and sports games. Children of 2–3 are admitted only together with their parents — bear that in mind if you were counting on free hours.
Adults will find plenty to do as well: cooking courses, art workshops, master classes from a professional DJ and shows by invited stars.
The rooms are spacious, from 60 square metres, renovated in 2017; each has a balcony or terrace and direct access to the beach, garden or pool.
The verdict: a universal resort — it works equally honestly for families and for couples on a wedding trip.
