Honest review
Yalong Bay is Sanya's postcard bay, and Mangrove Tree Resort stands right in it, close to the area's main sights and entertainment.
The resort opened in 2005 and was refreshed in 2015. The scale is serious — 518 rooms: this is a large, lively organism rather than an intimate boutique, and it is worth being ready for that in advance.
Inside is a calm set-up for the evening: a bar with refreshing cocktails and local drinks, a hot tub, and games rooms where it is easy to gather company around board games. The garden deserves its own mention — it is a pleasure to walk through, and its scenery does much to set the mood of the place.
Who should come: those travelling for Yalong Bay itself — its views and its closeness to everything worth seeing — who choose a big resort with infrastructure over seclusion.
