Choose this resort when what you want from Hainan is calm and aesthetics: Yalong Bay, Mediterranean architecture with white facades and blue accents, fragrant gardens and ocean views from spacious rooms.
The beach is a strong argument: private, sandy, with a gentle slope into the sea and warm soft sand; loungers and umbrellas in place. Plus panoramic pools and a spa zone for days away from the water.
The cuisine is refined, and the shape of the evening takes care of itself — dinner on a terrace overlooking a sunset that paints the sky in pastel shades.
Practicalities: 34 kilometres to Sanya Phoenix international airport, 15.4 to the city of Sanya, so town is within reach if you want it — but the resort lives its own quiet life.
