Honest review
A small house with a big veranda — that is Bay Watch: three floors, just 8 rooms and a genuinely homely atmosphere in the very centre of Unawatuna. The sandy beach is a few minutes away; little shops, markets, good cafés and a fruit stall are all around.
The treasure here is the balconies: most rooms have their own — large, L-shaped, in tropical flowers, with a panorama of the town, the garden or the ocean. And the rooms are quiet — a rare luxury for the main street.
The interiors are colonial style in natural wood: a tall four-poster bed, armchairs with wooden armrests, alongside air conditioning, a kettle, a fridge and a TV.
The essential outing is Galle, a UNESCO World Heritage site only 3.5 km away: a short walk and you are inside history.
Choose this place if you are after a balance of price and quality, location and nature — and value intimacy over starry service.
