Honest review
A sensible choice in Unawatuna if the budget is not bottomless yet you expect more from service than formal politeness: the combination of price, quality, location and hospitality is this place's main argument.
The compromise first: it is the third beach line, five minutes on foot to the sandy beach. If you are ready for that walk, everything else plays in your favour: a supermarket, small shops and local-cuisine restaurants are nearby, and the main sights can be reached on foot.
A feature worth singling out: Russian-speaking staff. They will help you hire a car, and will see you off and meet you at night after an excursion — one person here is adviser, guide and handyman in one.
For a break from the heat there is a fabulous pool where both adults and children swim; there is a playground for the children too. Bicycle rides are popular in the surroundings.
The rooms are colonial style: wood, stone and white textiles plus modern comforts; quiet and without excess humidity.
Who it is for: families and travellers who value service over a first line. Bearings: about 120 km from Colombo, 152 km from Bandaranaike airport.
